Donald Trump hi:t with extreme backlash after posting ‘blasphemous’ meme about the Pope

A week after Pope Francis passed away, Donald Trump took to social media to share an ‘excessively disrespectful’ image.

The head of the Catholic church passed away on April 21 at the age of 88-years-old, with hundreds of thousands flocking to St Peter’s Square in Vatican City to pay their respects to the late religious leader on April 26.

Among them was US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania, alongside other world leaders.

Trump triggerd online debate, not only for what he was wearing and comments he made before, but also for ‘disrespecting’ protocol.

Trump then shared who he’d want to be the next pope after Francis and well, if you’ve ever questioned how you know when a joke’s being taken too far, the 78-year-old has just solved it perfectly – taking to Instagram to upload a picture which has seen him blocked as ‘a new low’.

Earlier today (May 3), Trump took to his Instagram to upload an AI-generated image of himself.

The picture describes Trump in a cream pope outfit, a mitre hat and a cross dangling around his neck. He’s sat on a gold ornate chair and is holding one finger up in the air.
